My Story
As the 7th daughter of 8 girls, I grew up with just about every variation of the female personality. I watched as my older siblings struggle through obstacles common to a single mom household, having little hope of breaking out of the statistical choices they would make. Yet, something in me seemed purposed for more than life was revealing. After years of bouncing around like a pin ball in an entombed case, I began to see a change in the choices I was making. With every constructive decision toward a future (no matter how small) the next decision became easier. Soon I began to see a purpose unfolding. Every time I found my way through a difficult time, there was another woman close behind looking for the same answers to the same obstacles.
As I began to recognizing that it was God’s plan for my life to be a beacon to others, I pursued the education and tools necessary to first and foremost, defeat the most debilitating giants in my life: self-doubt, shame and intimidation. Then, I began giving back by teaching others the way through their personal roadblocks. I believe this “Mentor” perspective of life gave hope to the hopeless and strength and courage to the weak. Whether it was a parent-to-child or mentor-to-student relationship, I learned that connection with others was the seed that encouraged growth in every area of a person’s life. For me, when someone believes in who you are and who you can be, you are more likely to seek to become that person and fulfill your inner purpose.
Ready to embrace your purpose?
During the 5 years I volunteered as a Chaplain for the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, I held weekly groups for 60+ women, instructing and motivating them in how to make productive and lasting changes to their lives. My desire to provide these women with a safe place to heal and grow once released, led me to begin Daughters of Naomi, Inc. in November 2001. By offering the comfort of my home to those who truly wanted to change, we were able to fight for their freedom over the issues that were holding them back. Over the next 14 years, more than 200 women passed through my doors. In March 2015, I enrolled in The Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) where I pursued Certification as a Health Coach. As a student of IIN, I learned the value of a coach in my own life. There are so many people who want to "face the giants" in their life but are clueless how to begin. I am looking forward to sitting with those passionate, brave women and working together to find their paths and stepping stones to the futures that have evaded them.
